When developing a gravity MTB shoe for racing, we listened to feedback from top professional athletes. Their requests were clear - they wanted a durable and protective shoe that would enhance bike control through the pedals. They also desired lightweight performance and a precise fit. These qualities are often lacking in gravity mountain biking shoes. So we set out to create the perfect shoe that would meet all these requirements.Let's start with the outsole. Feet play a crucial role in bike control, alongside your hands on the handlebar. That's why we designed the Gravita outsole to provide the perfect shoe-to-pedal interface for fast and aggressive gravity riding. It features the stickiest Vibram® Megagrip rubber compound and a specific zonal lug pattern. The mid-foot has a low-profile tapered tread pattern for an immediate connection and optimal mechanical interface with the pedal pins. The heel and toes have a deeper, sharper tread for better ground traction when hiking back up the hill. This flat pedals version is supple, allowing for maximum grip and minimal foot roll. The widened bottom provides plenty of contact with wide platform pedals, allowing for a more evenly spread load.For downhill and enduro racing, it's crucial to have a precise fit that effectively transfers power generated from short, intense and powerful pedal strokes. To achieve this, we employed an ergonomic lace-up pattern that cradles the foot and spreads tension evenly throughout the pedal stroke. A Powerstrap over the instep secures the fit, stabilizing the plantar arch and locking the heel in place, while also keeping the laces in check.To avoid the bulky look and sloppy fit of typical gravity shoes, we put intentional engineering into stripping weight and eliminating excess material. The Tensor features a slim silhouette and minimal weight thanks to innovative rip-stop outer fabrics and a less absorbent inner lining.
